Emergency Preparedness for evacuation of people with disabilities training
Become part of the global Purple Vest movement with our basic training which will equip you to become a PV volunteer, providing accessible assistance to people with disabilities and the elderly during emergencies. The training will last approximately 3.5 hours and is intended for about 30 participants
A key factor in providing accessible services is ensuring training for people involved. The training can turn the service provider into a metaphorical human ramp. Whether you are a volunteer in times of emergency or an organization that provides solutions in such cases – making sure you receive professional training on accessible services is crucial to successfully support people with disabilities and the elderly.
We offer short-term accessible training, live training and training for organizations.
Training of Trainers (ToT)
A 2-day workshop designed to equip instructors with the skills to train local volunteers in assisting people with disabilities during emergencies, preparing them to become Purple Vest volunteers. The workshop provides a clear lesson plan, essential knowledge, practical tools, and hands-on experience. Each session will last approximately 3.5 hours (approx. 7 hours in total) and the training is intended for about 30 participants
Emergency Drill Event
A one-of-a-kind experience that immerses participants in the realities faced by people with disabilities during emergencies. The event showcases accessible solutions, technologies for emergency scenarios, and imparts essential knowledge on how to prepare for emergencies with the needs of people with disabilities in mind. Through simulated experiences, attendees gain a direct understanding of the challenges and potential solutions that those with disabilities face in emergency situations.
Lecture – introduction to emergency accessibility
Introductory Lecture on Accessibility in Emergency Situations – The unique impact of emergencies on people with disabilities, the challenges they face, and how society can become the human ramp that assists during emergencies and saves lives. The training includes a personal testimonial from a person with a disability, sharing their personal experiences during an emergency.
Lecture – becoming a Purple Vest volunteer: The ABCs of providing accessible assistance during emergencies
This training session is designed to provide fundamental skills and knowledge for effectively assisting people with disabilities in emergency situations. It is ideal for service providers, emergency response teams, volunteers, employees in workplaces, students, and anyone interested in enhancing their capabilities in supporting PWD during emergencies.
Lecture – creating accessible evacuation plans for public places and workplaces
This training provides knowledge and tools for creating emergency plans and procedures tailored for people with disabilities within organizations, public places, and buildings. Its core focus is on preparedness for accessible evacuation, ensuring that all individuals can safely exit a facility in the event of an emergency. This practical training is ideal for emergency teams, security staff, managers, building owners, accessibility coordinators, and other organizations.
Lecture – developing a personal self-evacuation plan for people with disabilities
“As Ready as It Gets”. This training includes a comprehensive 2-hour session for various groups with different kinds of disabilities (physical, visual, hearing, etc.,), or a shorter 75-minute session specifically designed for people with cognitive or mental disabilities.

Short Record Training
In this short recorded training, you will learn the basics to provide accessible assistance to people with disabilities and the elderly, who need to leave their homes to a safer place. You will learn about the challenges faced by people with disabilities in emergency situations, and get tips on dealing with these challenges to best support the evacuees.
